Ministries at St. Stephen's
St Stephen's has more than thirty ministries that offer opportunities to volunteer, meet others, and share experiences.
Music Program

Adult Choir: Practice Thursdays 7:00 - 8:30 pm, and Sundays 9:15 - 9:45 am, from end of August to end of May.
Children's Choir: For children 4 and over, Practice the 3rd Sunday of each month following the 10 AM service.
Hand bell Choir: Practice the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each moth at 11:30 am, Sept to May.
Youth Hand bell Choir: Practice the 1st Sunday of each month at 11:30 am, Sept to May.
Learning Our Faith
For Children: Contact Tara-lyn Towers
We hold classes for children on Sundays through the school year. Pre-K through 3rd Grade classes are held during the 10:00 am service, with children joining their families in the Sanctuary during the Peace. Children 4th through 6th grade attend a Breakfast Club between the two services beginning at 9:15 am.
Youth Group: Contact Roman Krafczyk
The purpose of Youth Group is to build community, develop relationship with God, understanding the church, and have fun doing it. Middle and senior high school people meet from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on Sundays for lunch, games & Bible study.
Confirmation, Reception and Reaffirmation: Contact Fr. Max Bailey
To give deeper meaning to our Episcopal life and worship.
Confirmation for those 16 years of age and older who wish to understand more fully their own spirituality and our church rituals. Reception for those who have been confirmed in the Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and some branches of the Lutheran church. Reaffirmation for those who are confirmed in the Episcopal church and are interested in learning more about the faith and wish to reaffirm their baptismal vows in front of the Bishop.
Church Service Program
Acolytes: Contact Steve Worland
Open to all youth ages 8-14, serving as acolytes during church services. This is an integral part of the worship service. Training provided.
Altar Guild: Contact Robin Trader
The Altar Guild serves under the direction of the clergy by preparing the church for worship, taking care of the many details of our worship and setting up for various services including weddings and funerals. The Altar Guild is responsible for care and preparations of the Altar, linens, priest vestments, brass, silver, candles and flowers. We are a friendly group that eagerly welcomes new volunteers.
Coffee Cart: Contact Meghan Marks
We provide coffee, juice and snacks after each of the two Sunday services.
Eucharistic Visitors: Contact Deacon Jan Dewlen
A Eucharistic Visitor is a lay person authorized to take the Consecrated Elements to members of the congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity, were unable to be present at the Celebration. Eucharistic Visitors are trained and supervised by Deacons, and they are licensed by the Bishop after submitting paperwork signed by the rector.
Greeters: Contact Susi Carr
The Greeters Ministry is about making all who enter our church feel welcome. It is our purpose to answer questions, give directions, and assist all who come on Sundays in any way we can.
Healing Prayer Ministry: Contact Shirley O'Brien
To be a healing force for the parish and individual parishioners; to pray; to love; to heal and to assure each other of God's love for us all.
Prayer Chain: Contact Shirley O'Brien
This group provides confidential intercessory prayers for those in need. All members pray individually for that person, and first names are included with the Prayers for the People for specific time.
Sacred Garden & Columbarium: Contact Nancy McWhorter
Maintain and administer St. Stephen's consecrated garden where the ashes of the deceased are buried. The garden also provides a pleasant place to meditate or pray, as well as visit in memory of those who are buried there.

This service includes ushers, readers, and Chalice bearers for our church services.
St. Cecelia's Guild: Contact Shirley O'Brien
We are St. Stephen's church women who provide receptions for funerals at the church. We meet monthly in each others' homes for fellowship and interesting programs. Periodically, we clean the church kitchen and organize the shelves, refrigerators and storage room.
Reaching Out
Angel Food: Contact Cherry Marcellus
We provide simple meals, companionship, and love to people within the church and outlying communities who are in special need such as loss of a family member, sickness, or housebound.
Financial Peace University: Contact Jack & Gay Hampton
The purpose of this ministry is to help people find financial peace and to provide a practical, entertaining class to help people successfully manage their own finances. It is open to the greater Longmont community.
Kids' Hope USA: Contact Meghan Marks
This program involves one caring adult mentor for one at-risk child for one hour every week. Each mentor has a prayer partner from St. Stephen's.
Klose Knit: Contact Kathy Pipis
We enjoy good company while working on knit and crochet projects for those in need. We make hats for the Holiday Basket Program and helmet liners for our military serving in Afghanistan.
Outreach: Contact Deacon Dana Solomon
St Stephen's supports the OUR Center, the Inn Between, St. Francis Center, Project HOPE, St. Claire's Closet, Operation Christmas Child, Episcopal Relief and Development, the Haiti Project, and Nets for Life. We donate food, clothing and toys. In Summer of 2011 we organized a bike tour, Pedal for Nets, in support of Nets For Life.
St. Stephen's Art Show: Contact Lynne Lemmer
We organize an area-wide art show at St. Stephen's the last week of April every year. This is a community-wide program open to all Colorado artists.
St. Stephen's Wonder Kids Preschool and Child Care: Contact Heidi Wagner
Our preschool, pre-K, and child care program is fully licensed and open to the Longmont community. We help children learn to love learning.
Managing the Church
St. Stephen's Vestry
The Parish is governed by the Vestry. There are twelve members responsible for the financial health, maintenance and upkeep of the church property. The Rector is a permanent member, and the other eleven members are elected by the Parish for three year terms. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month and are open to all St. Stephen's members.
Working Committees
St Stephen's Working Committees serve at the pleasure of the Vestry. They include Finance, Communications, Newcomers, School, Stewardship, and the Legacy Society.
