Kid's Hope
Kids Hope USA is an exciting and very successful nationwide mentoring program. It is based on a partnership between a church and one local public elementary school. The volunteer mentors, who are church members, are screened and then trained to spend one hour per week for the school year mentoring students at the school. The program director is responsible for training and guiding the mentors as they work with their students who range in age from kindergarten to fifth grade.
| Our program at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church is in its ninth year. Our school partner is nearby Burlington Elementary School. We currently have nine mentors and will be adding more any time. Our students have all shown tremendous leaps in their reading and comprehension test scores. Some have jumped as much as two and a half grade levels in only one semester! One-on-one relationships do make a difference. If you, too, would like to make a difference in the life of a child, become a Kids Hope USA mentor! |

St. Stephen's KIDS HOPE program was recognized as a Business Partner at St. Vrain Valley School District's CELEBRATION 2002!
St. Stephen's KIDS HOPE program was named the 2002 Civic Organization School Volunteer for St. Vrain Valley School District.
If you're interested in being a KIDS HOPE USA Mentor or Prayer Partner, call Meghan Marks now. Interviews, finger-printing and criminal checks, and training need to be done. There are many children waiting for their own mentor.
One child, one hour is the heart of KIDS HOPE USA. One caring adult mentoring an at-risk child one hour every week. Because when kids feel loved and valued, they are better able to learn, grow, and succeed. But one church, one school is its brilliance. KIDS HOPE USA is a church-based model because churches are better positioned to recruit volunteer mentors who will be faithful over the long haul. These volunteer mentors are loyal to the KIDS HOPE USA program since their church operates and funds it. And because it’s provided free of cost for schools, it meets the urgent need of educators for an intervention without breaking their budgets. There are many children who could benefit from spending one hour a week with YOU!!

Safeguarding Our Childen Workshop
There is a "Safeguarding our Children" workshop for all the mentors. Feedback for this information has been very positive. Please turn your certificates in to the church office.
Mentors: Please call your prayer partner and let him/her know what your student's needs are.
Please let us know if you need another school bag (some mentors have gotten 5 years worth from their kits and need replacements)!
